Service Description

Tui-Na (pronounced twee-nah) massage originated in ancient China and is believed to be the oldest system of bodywork. Tui-Na is an essential component of Traditional Chinese Medicine, rooted in ancient Chinese practices that aim to maintain balance and harmony within the body. As a form of massage therapy, Tui-Na is a professional treatment that combines manipulation techniques and soft tissue work to achieve better health and wellness. A skilled therapist applying Tui Na will use their hands, and fingers to rhythmically press, knead, and stretch muscles, tendons, and tissues. Tui- Na massage is often used in combination with acupuncture to treat specific health concerns or areas in the body. Tuina massage can be used to treat pain and illness, or to maintain good health. The technique is effective in reducing stress, encouraging relaxation, and deepening sleep. It’s often used for conditions and injuries related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups (plastic or glass) on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. This breaks capillaries (the smallest of blood vessels near the skin surface) and results in red and sometimes purple marks where the cup was. These were the circles seen on many athletes in the Olympics. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cups are often placed on specific acupuncture points for stimulation. People get cupping for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
